I think the “modern” basketball ideology is centered around athleticism and highlights. Putting the ball in the basket is the game. No matter the era, if you could score, that’s the game. Dunks, alley oops crossovers is flash. Screens, pick and rolls, dribbling shooting and passing is basketball.

I think it's important to appreciate these early guys didn't have as much to pattern their games after. They had to innovate. To look back today with all the knowledge, the countless refinements, the improvements in diet, strength training, body movements. To act like it's no big deal, you think those guys back then wouldn't have benefitted?
